Session Registration: More Flexibility for Residents, a Fresh Look for Our Staff Platform
One of the things we think about often at Rec Technologies is how to make our tools reflect the realities of people’s lives. Work schedules shift, family responsibilities pop up, and life rarely fits neatly into a 6–10 week program calendar. That’s why we're especially excited to share that we’re launching Session Registration - a feature many call “flexible registration.”

Why This Matters for Residents
For years, residents have had to choose between committing to an entire season of programming or missing out completely. That model works well for some, but for many adults and parents, it’s just not realistic. With Session Registration, residents can now pick the days or weeks that fit their schedules, without the pressure of an all-or-nothing commitment.
It means a parent who only has free time every other week can still join a class. It means someone caring for a family member can participate when they’re able. It even means residents who are curious but hesitant can “try before they commit.”
This flexibility opens the door for more to participate, and in turn, it helps departments build stronger, more inclusive communities.
Why This Matters for Departments
The best part is that parks departments don’t lose out. Instead of empty seats when residents can’t commit, they see increased engagement and a wider reach. Programs become more accessible, more welcoming, and better utilized.
It’s a win-win: residents get the flexibility they need, and departments build deeper connections with their community.
Always Learning, Always Adapting
We're also excited because this launch gave us the chance to take a year’s worth of learning and feedback and apply it to our new Section Interface. We’ve updated and refreshed the way the product works so it’s easier to navigate, clearer to use, and better aligned with the tasks staff do to manage programs day-to-day.
For us, this is the heart of building good products: listening, adapting, and improving. Session registration is just one example of how we’re not only building features, but also making sure the whole experience evolves with our customers’ needs.

Looking Ahead
We’ll keep listening, iterating, and finding ways to remove barriers so that more residents can discover the programs that make their communities stronger. Session Registration is a step forward in that mission and we can’t wait to see the impact it makes!
